POSTCARDS FROM THE HEART!

In the words of our vendor....(and we couldn't describe it any better!)

Built in 2008, the house was initially used as a bach and then in 2015 we became Auckland refugees and made Omaha our fulltime home - a move we have never regretted.

A Decade of Joy and Togetherness
Reflecting on the past decade spent at No. 2 Paua Lane, we are filled with immense gratitude and fond memories. As we prepare to transition back to the city to be closer to family, we reminisce about the very special ten years that we have lived in Omaha on a permanent basis.

Building Our Home
When we first decided to build our home, our primary focus was on family. Located in a serene cul de sac with only seven homes, No. 2 Paua Lane offered an ideal environment for our grandchildren to play and explore safely. The architect, understanding our vision, asked us about our "must haves." My husband requested an extra wide hallway, envisioning it as a space for fun and games. This hallway indeed became the site for countless nerf gun battles and intricate Thomas the Tank Engine tracks that stretched for what seemed like kilometres.

Beachside Adventures
With "no roads to cross" to reach the beach, it was inevitable that many of our cherished memories revolve around the sea. We watched our grandchildren learn to swim, their faces lighting up with joy as they caught their first waves and surfed all the way to the beach. The beach was a canvas for creativity, where we built numerous sandcastles and held our annual sand sculpting competitions, each more keenly contested than the last. One of the little things that always brings a smile to our faces is remembering the treasure hunts, where Grandad would secretly bury coins in the sand for the kids to find.

Family Gatherings
Our home was a haven for family gatherings, especially during Christmas when cousins from Christchurch and London would visit. The excitement was palpable every year, culminating in our New Year "Bake Off" competition. While the baking was great fun, the cleanup was somewhat less enjoyable! The "Cupcake" decorating competition for adults, judged by the grandkids, was always a highlight. The cakes with the most lollies on top invariably won, much to the children's delight.

Outdoor Fun
The peaceful cul de sac of Paua Lane provided a safe space for the children to learn to ride bikes, scooters, and skateboards under the watchful eyes of their parents, who would relax with a drink (or two) sitting on the grass berm. These moments of simple joy and togetherness are what made our years in Omaha truly special.

No. 2 Paua Lane has been more than just a house; it has been a sanctuary where family bonds were strengthened, laughter was shared, and countless memories were created. As we move forward, we carry these precious memories with us, forever grateful for the time spent in our beloved home.
